I sat quietly as Lila typed on her laptop. "What did you want to show me?" Her head bobbed occasionally to the music they were listening to. "I have to find the timer. Found it!" She exclaimed. She jumped up, but the equipment from the high tech computer on her head brought her down.
"Ow." "Smart, Lila. Now what did you want to show me!?" I was getting annoyed, it was 7:00 in the morning and it was the first day of Summer vacation. "In exactly five minutes, you will find out." The timer slowly slinked to the specific time, all the while Lila bouncing off the walls. Finally the timer went off. I looked at Lila who had stopped moving, standing completely still in the middle of the floor. I noticed her lack of movement and went to check on her.
"Lila? You okay, hun?" No answer.
Even though Lila was the smartest person I knew, and she was a complete brainiac, she talked constantly. I'm surprised she hasn't gotten kicked out of school for talking during all the tests.
"Lila?" I repeated, and still I got no answer. Okay. Weird.
I started to panic. What was the stupid timer we had been searching for since two in the morning for, anyway? Lila was my best friend, and we hung out at each others houses so much, if one of us wasn't home, all our parents had to do was call the other's house and tell us not to be late for dinner. I shook her shoulder, hoping she would tell me to stop or something.
"Lila!" I looked at the computer screen, the one that had the timer, and noticed it said, 'Let The Game Begin!' 'Okay, Lila never told me about any game...' I thought. Slowly, I felt Lila moving. "Lila, are you okay?" "Fine." I noticed her voice didn't sound like Lila. It sounded like her older sister, who went to collage. Or so her Dad said. That was eight in a half years ago. "What game?" "Heh... the game must begin." "Lila?" She started to shudder, and I worried she was having an asthma attack. She had those a lot. She grabbed my shoulder, squeezing a little too tight. "The Game! It has begun! Don't you see?" I stared at her, her eyes looked weird. They weren't the normal green color they normally were. They were orange.
"Lila? What happened to your eyes? Are you okay?" She started to laugh. "Well my dear boy, you don't seem to be prepared for The Game! We'll have to fix that!" She grabbed my other shoulder, and everything started to kinda swish. Like watching a washer washing clothes. I closed my eyes, 'cause I noticed everything started to get really bright. Like I was staring at the Sun. I was. The next thing I knew, We were standing on a huge baseball diamond, it looked like somewhere outside town.
"Lila? What just happened?" "The first two fighters of The Game." She pointed to two little kids. They looked no older than eight years old. "They are feuding over what one of them did during the last Game. They want to challenge each other. See those marks on the smaller one's hand?" I looked. They kinda reminded me of a chess piece. "He's a Bishop. He's in a lower division, thus he has to use the chess rules."
"Lila, what are you talking about? What is all this?" Lila was starting to scare me, real bad. The dust started to move around both the kids, and it started to swirl. Soon after, when the dust settled, I noticed that the kids were gone, and in their places were two teenagers. "That's how old they were when the last Game ended. When they fight, they go to their true forms. The only time you don't go to your true form is if this is your first game. Like you." She looked at me, her eyes almost glowing.
"What? Lila, you're crazy! I don't know anything about this!" "You will, if you want to survive." I stared at her, the I looked at the teenagers. Their clothes looked weird. The one with the markings on his hand now had a kind of staff, and he was wearing a weird robe thing. The other looked way different. What looked like tattoos were all over his back, The shirt he wore was all torn up, and his jeans had holes all over them, and he had a kind of sword. Or dagger. Heck, it could've been a bayonet! The teen in the robe moved his staff and said some words I couldn't understand. I was pretty sure it was Latin. Lila frowned.
"I have not declared the battle on yet, Bishop!" The teen looked at her, then looked down. "Fine..." he muttered. "Bishop and Swordsman, what are you playing for? Pieces, or Battle?" They both yelled, "Battle."
"Fine. Begin!" Lila looked at me and said," Are you watching closely?" I watched the two fight, the teen with the sword trying to hit the Bishop, but he never could hit him. The Bishop kept muttering words I couldn't understand, and different things would happen; fire, smoke, lightning, and others things. At one point the teen with the sword got mad and yelled something, making the Bishop flinch. Then the teen had a lot more swords. Two he held, and five floated beside him. "Everyone can use spells," Lila said, "but they just use different kinds of spells." I watched the two fight, and eventually, the teen with the sword hit the Bishop in the ribs. I didn't want to think about how bad that must've hurt. The Bishop fell to his knees, holding his side. "Finished! You have beaten your opponent into submission, Swordsman!" He smiled, a kinda creepy smile, and walked away. Lila walked over to the Bishop and said some words, and he disappeared. She walked back over to me. "Don't worry, I'll help you along the way." She said, and I felt really sleepy. I slumped on the ground, and the last thing I remember was wishing I stayed at home...
